ULTRA-VIOLENCE have released their new single for “The End” along with a music video to accompany it. It’s a solid effort for the ‘Metalcore’ subgenre, but it follows your typical song writing/structure that so many of their peers have done for the last 20+ years.
The clean singing section at the beginning really feels like it’s going to be a new Linkin Park single, but I pushed through it. Once the song picked up, it did get better, but still felt a bit one dimensional.
Now don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy a great deal of metalcore, but this felt almost borderline nu-metal at times. I really wished I liked this more, especially since the band’s name “ULTRA-VIOLENCE” just sounds like a band that’ll ‘drop kick grandma from a 3rd story balcony’ (Hey, Cannibal Corpse, I’m open to negotiations to use that line in a song 🤣). Instead, they ring every bell that all-to-many late-generation nu-metal/early metalcore band did.
So, while it’s a decent attempt, it just didn’t grab me and hold my attention like I wished it did.

Now, while this may not be my cup of tea, I know there are a lot of people out there who really enjoy these guys.
